Kids Birthday Parties at Fountain Valley Skating Center
A parent’s guide to packages, pricing, and planning the perfect skating party
Picking a birthday party venue for a kid usually comes down to one question: will the kids actually have fun, or will you spend two hours refereeing a bounce house? A roller-skating party solves that problem in a pretty direct way — there’s music, movement, and a built-in activity that doesn’t need much supervision once the skates are on. At Fountain Valley Skating Center, birthday parties are one of the most common reasons families walk through the door, and the packages are built around taking the planning stress off the parent’s plate.
What Every FVSC Birthday Package Includes
Every party package at FVSC — regardless of which food option you choose — comes with the same core setup, so you’re not piecing together extras on top of a base price.
Included with every party:
- Admission and skate rental for each child
- One “Free Skating Pass” for each child to come back and skate again
- One month of free skating lessons for the birthday child
- A free FVSC t-shirt for the birthday child
- Reserved table space for your group
- A birthday shout-out over the sound system
- A party host during your scheduled refreshment time
Party Package Pricing
FVSC offers three food packages, priced per person, so your total depends on your guest count rather than a flat room fee.
| Package | Price | What’s Included |
|---|---|---|
| Package 1 | $24 / person | Ice cream and a soft drink |
| Package 2 | $26 / person | Ice cream, soft drink, hot dog, and a bag of chips |
| Package 3 | $28 / person | Ice cream, soft drink, and a slice of pizza |
Skate mates (the push-along training aids for newer skaters) aren’t included in any package but can be rented at the box office for $7 each.
Party Times Available
Parties run in fixed time blocks on weekends:
- Saturday: 11am–2pm, 12pm–3pm, 1pm–4pm, or 2pm–5pm
- Sunday: 1pm–4pm or 2pm–5pm
If a weekend block doesn’t work for your family, FVSC also offers private parties on Sunday mornings — call (714) 847-0022 to check availability.

Planning Around Guests and Decorations
A few details are worth knowing before you finalize your guest list and party theme:
- Up to four adults can attend without charge; additional non-skating adults are charged a $10 spectator fee, and lobby space for non-skaters is limited.
- Tablecloths, plates, cups, and napkins are welcome if you want a themed look — banners and backdrops aren’t allowed due to quick refreshment-table turnover.
- Outside food and drinks aren’t permitted unless you have a reserved party, so make sure your date is booked before bringing anything in.
- You’re welcome to bring your own cake or cupcakes; staff will cut and serve at your table time, though FVSC can’t store or hold ice cream cakes.
- A nonrefundable deposit is required to book, and it’s credited back to your party total on the day of the event.
If You’re Bringing Younger Kids Too
If your party includes toddlers or younger siblings who aren’t quite ready for a full skate session, FVSC’s Kids/Stroller Skate sessions are worth knowing about separately — one parent skates free with each child, rentals are free, and it’s hosted by Dirty Deborah Harry of the Dirty School of Skate YouTube channel. Here’s a look at what that family session feels like on the floor:
Getting the Birthday Skater Ready Beforehand
Since the birthday child’s package already includes a free month of lessons, it’s worth using it before the actual party — a kid who’s steadier on skates enjoys their own party a lot more than one who’s white-knuckling the wall the whole time. FVSC’s Saturday Morning Classes are a simple way to fit that in before the big day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring in my own decorations?
Yes — tablecloths, plates, cups, and napkins for a themed look are welcome. Banners and backdrops aren’t allowed because of how quickly the refreshment table needs to turn over between parties.
Are skate mates included in the party package?
No, but they’re available to rent at the box office for $7 each if a newer skater needs extra support.
Do parents have to pay if they’re not skating?
Up to four adults can attend at no charge. Beyond that, non-skating adults are charged a $10 spectator fee, and note that lobby space for non-skaters is limited.
Can I rent the rink privately for my party?
Yes — private parties are available on Sunday mornings. Call (714) 847-0022 for details and availability.
Can I bring in a cake or cupcakes?
Yes, bring your own cake or cupcakes and the party host will cut and serve them during your table time. FVSC isn’t able to store or hold ice cream cakes, so keep that in mind when choosing your dessert.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as possible. Popular weekend slots and annual repeat bookings fill up months ahead, so it’s worth reserving a date as soon as it’s on your radar.
Is a deposit required to book?
Yes, a nonrefundable deposit is required for every party. It’s credited back toward your total on the day of your event.
Without booking a party, can I still bring a cake and presents for open skate?
No — outside food and drinks are only allowed with a reserved party. If you want to celebrate at FVSC, book a party date in advance rather than trying to bring items into open skate.
